Celebrate Body Pride Week at Caldwell College

Caldwell College is pleased to announce Body Pride Week. The week-long event will take place Feb. 23 through Feb. 27 and will consist of various discussions and workshops, which will encourage both men and women to embrace and take pride in their bodies. The week is sponsored by the Caldwell College Office of Counseling; and is made possible through donations from Whole Food’s Market and MJG Promotions.

Monday, February 23
“Real Women Have Curves” - Film
7:00pm—10:00pm—Alumni Theatre
In this entertaining film we follow the adventures of Ana, a young Latino woman who is struggling to define her identity.  This film touches on many topical issues including the conflict between Anglo culture and Ana’s Mexican-American working class community; the complicated dynamic between mothers and daughters; the role of friendship and     romance; and the way that women struggle to overcome society’s toxic messages about body image.  A discussion of the movie will follow.  Attendees can enter a raffle to win a “Beautiful” tee-shirt.

Wednesday, February 25
“Size Ate”—One Woman’s Search for the Perfect Fit
7:00pm—9:00pm—Alumni Theatre
Back by popular demand, Margaux Laskey will be performing her off-Broadway show, “Size Ate.”  This riveting performance follows the life of a woman who is attempting to come to terms with her body size and who ultimately arrives at self acceptance.  You don’t want to miss this humorous and moving one-woman show that combines the best elements of dance, music and theatre.

Learn about healthy eating and affirm your body and self by noting your best traits on your Polaroid shot.  We’ll be distributing fresh fruit donated by Whole Foods Market and helpful informational flyers.

Body Esteem Basics II

Test your body esteem IQ. There will be informational flyers, and you’ll have a chance to win some great prizes.
