Communication Arts Professor and Media Educators Association Director John Yurko presented the MEA Lifetime Achievement Award to veteran filmmaker John Sayles at a screening of Sayles' latest film Honeydripper.

"This is a great honor," said Sayles. "My parents were both teachers and I respect the work that you do every day in classrooms."

The inscription on the Lifetime Achievement Award read, "for his inspiration, dedication and example in advancing the art of motion pictures, and in doing so, teaching us all to question, to explore, to experience and to understand."

The presentation took place December 15 at MEA's Saturday Morning Film Festival.

Other honorees at MEA were Federico Fellini, Woody Allen and Robert Altman.

MEA regularly screens films from festivals around the world on Saturday mornings. For more information go to www.mediaeducators.org.
