Library Database Connection Troubleshooting

Jennings Library subscribes to a number of reference databases for student and staff use. The library uses EZProxy to allow students to follow links to these databases from computers outside of the Caldwell College network. However, some of the settings on your computer may interfere with your ability to gain access to the databases.

If you are having problems connecting to the library's subscription databases try these troubleshooting tips for dealing with the most common connection problems.

Am I logging in correctly?

When using the databases off campus, you will get a login screen. This page should be a Caldwell login screen with a college seal and red theme.

If you do not see a login screen at all:

It is possible your internet service provider blocks the port necessary to login. It is common for businesses to restrict certain access ports in the workplace. Access to port 2048 is required to connect to the databases from off campus. Contact your ISP or network administrator to find out if port 2048 is blocked.

If you see the wrong login screen:

If the login is not Caldwell's login screen, your problem is most likely a browser configuration problem (skip down to the next question box).

If your login is invalid:

If you are logging into the Caldwell login screen and receive an invalid password error message, be sure you are using to proper login name and password. This login name and password will most likely begin with the first letter of your first name and up to five letters of your last name followed by your year of graduation or program.

The all numeric login name used to check your grades online will not work.

If you cannot remember your login name or password, fill out the NetID request form (click here).
