Jennings library has over 50 databases containing citations to, and full-text for over 22,000 journals, magazines and newspapers. To help you with your search, we have organized our databases by subject. Start your search by selecting your subject area, then select an appropriate database to search.

Caldwell College’s subscription databases are available from off-campus to current Caldwell College students, faculty and staff. When connecting from home you will be asked for your Caldwell College e-mail name and password. You will have to login in only once during a search session, no matter how many databases you use. If you have lost your login name or password, please visit the Self Service Password Management page.

ABI/INFORM Complete  (1971 – current) – Business, Management and Trade – scholarly and trade journal articles, dissertations, market reports, industry reports, business cases and global and trade news

Academic Search Premier - This multi-disciplinary database provides full text for more than 4,600 journals, including full text for nearly 3,900 peer-reviewed titles. PDF backfiles to 1975 or further are available for well over one hundred journals. Subjects covered include social sciences, humanities, education, computer sciences, engineering, language and linguistics, arts and literature, medical sciences, and ethnic studies.

AccessScience   features fully searchable content from McGraw-Hill’s Encyclopedia of Science & Technology, 10th Ed. It also includes research updates from the McGraw-Hill Yearbooks of Science & Technology, definitions from the McGraw-Hill Dictionary of Scientific and Technical Terms, biographies of well-known scientists from the Hutchinson Dictionary of Scientific Biography® and the latest news in science and technology from Science News® and ScienCentral® videos.

Art Full-Text – This is a comprehensive database to the world of arts from architecture to video containing full-text articles from an international array of peer-selected publications, as well as page images with full text of articles from more than 270 periodicals as far back as 1997 and indexing and abstracting of over 600 periodicals as far back as 1984.

ATLA Religion Database with ATLASerials – is the premier index to journal articles, book reviews and essays in all fields of religion with coverage from 1949 and retrospective indexing for some journal issues as far back as the nineteenth century Full text is provided for more than 294,000 electronic articles and book reviews. American Theological Library Association.

Biography Collection Complete  offers a comprehensive collection of 177,000 full-text biographies supporting history, science, the arts, music, literature, multicultural studies, gender studies, business, government & politics, sports, entertainment and many other areas. Funded by the New Jersey State Library.

Biomedical Reference Collection™: Comprehensive Edition – provides doctors, research scientists, students and clinical specialists with access to 1,050 full-text journals covering clinical medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, pre-clinical sciences, and the health care system.

Bloom’s Literary Reference Online – Examines great writers, important works, memorable characters, and influential movements and events in world literature.

Britannica Online Academic Edition – This portal designed for university students and faculty delivers fast and easy access to high-quality, comprehensive information. It includes Encyclopædia Britannica, Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary and Thesaurus, magazines and periodicals, and host of additional sources and research tools.

Business Source Premier - This is the industry’s most popular business popular research database featuring the full text for more than 2,100 journals, non-journal content includes market research reports, industry reports, country reports, company profiles, and SWOT analyses.

The Catholic Periodical and Literature Index (ATLA CPLI™)  provides indexing of periodicals, essay collections, church documents, papal documents and electronic resources expressly addressing the practice and intellectual tradition of Roman Catholicism. Content within its scope is selected for indexing based on enduring scholarly merit.   ATLA CPLI   contains indexing from 1981 to the present and is updated quarterly. Indexing for   ATLA CPLI   contains index records produced by the Catholic Library Association (CLA) from 1980 through the November 2011 update of the database. Records produced by The American Theological Library Association (ATLA) will begin appearing with the February 2012 update. ATLA acquired   ATLA CPLI   in September 2011 and holds the copyright for   ATLA CPLI .

ChemSpider is a free chemical structure database providing fast access to over 28 million structures, properties and associated information. By integrating and linking compounds from more than 400 data sources, ChemSpider enables researchers to discover the most comprehensive view of freely available chemical data from a single online search. It is owned by the Royal Society of Chemistry.

The Chronicle of Higher Education  – FULL ACCESS NOW AVAILABLE! – Weekly news and job-information source for college and university faculty members, administrators, and students.

CINAHL with Full Text – The Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature is the most comprehensive resource for nursing and allied health literature providing full text for more than 610 journals.

The Cochrane Library  is a collection of six databases that contain different types of high-quality, independent evidence to inform healthcare decision-making

Contemporary Authors – provides access to current biographical and bibliographical data on modern authors.

CountryWatch – provides country specific geopolitical intelligence on each of the 192 countries of the world.

CQ Researcher – Covering today’s most important issues and controversial subjects this database explores a current issue in the news in depth each week written by an experienced CQ Press reporter. Topics range from social and teen issues to environment, health, education, and science and technology. There are 44 reports produced each year (reports start in 1991).

Credo Reference – Online reference library that provides access to a selection of 601 reference books and 3,412,690 entries CredoReference also includes cross-references to other full text titles containing related information.

Criminal Justice Periodical Index  – abstracts and some full text of articles from criminal justice literature.

Curriculum Resource Center – Provides a library of printable teacher-handout material for the middle school, high school, and junior college curriculum.

Curriculum Resource Center: Junior Edition – Provides a library of printable teacher-handout material and other content geared for elementary-level students.

Discovering Collection - is comprised of more than 28,000 biographies, 18,000 overview essays and more than 13,500 critical essays in core curriculum subjects . All of the information is pulled directly from Gale reference materials and explores literature, history, biography, science and social studies.

Dissertations & Theses – This is the world’s most comprehensive collection of dissertations and theses. The official digital dissertations archive for the Library of Congress and the database of record for graduate research. It includes 2.7 million searchable citations to dissertation and theses from around the world from 1861 to the present day together with 1.2 million full text dissertations that are available for download in PDF format.

Dissertations and Theses @ Caldwell College - Scholarly research in education, business, counseling, and psychology written by Caldwell College students.

DSM® LIBRARY – Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders – The standard diagnostic tool used by mental health professionals worldwide to promote reliable research, accurate diagnosis, and thus appropriate treatment and patient care. Each psychiatric disorder with its corresponding diagnostic code is accompanied by a set of diagnostic criteria and descriptive details including associated features, prevalence, familial patterns, age-, culture-, and gender-specific features, and differential diagnosis.

Education Journals – This Proquest database indexes for over 820 periodical titles in education, including over 630 scholarly journals, 120 trade publications, and over 50 magazines. Citations and abstracts are available back to 1971 for several titles, and full-text access is available for over 650 titles, with current full-text content provided for over 460 of these. Covers not only the literature on primary, secondary, and higher education but also special education, home schooling, adult education, and hundreds of related topics

ERIC – provides unlimited access to more than 1.4 million bibliographic records of journal articles and other education-related materials. The majority of the journals are peer-reviewed but not all are full-text. In addition to the journal literature, ERIC indexes education-related materials from a variety of sources, including scholarly organizations, professional associations, research centers, policy organizations, university presses, the U.S. Department of Education and other federal agencies, and state and local agencies.

Facts on File – a collection of interdisciplinary interactive databases that feature a wide range of subjects including American history, science, multicultural studies, women’s studies, geography and careers. 

Health and Wellness Resource Center more than 1,000 top medical journals and periodicals as well as articles from more than 2,200 general-interest publications — more than 75% in full-text. A broad collection of full-text reference works including   The Gale Encyclopedia of Alternative Medicine,The Gale Encyclopedia of Surgery and Medical Tests, The Gale Encyclopedia of Genetic Disorders, The Gale Encyclopedia of Cancer, Medical Health Information Directory   and many others

Health Management -Contains full-text information from leading publications covering all aspects of health administration, including public health and safety, hospitals, finance, personnel management, insurance, population studies, labor relations and law.

Health Reference Center - includes articles on fitness, pregnancy, medicine, nutrition, diseases, public health, occupational health and safety, alcohol and drug abuse, HMOs, prescription drugs, etc. Contains the full text for some of the articles.

Health Source®: Consumer Edition - This resource provides access to more than 130 full text, consumer health magazines. It also includes searchable full text for current, health-related pamphlets and 130 health reference books; more than 4,500 Clinical Reference Systems reports (in English and Spanish); Clinical Pharmacology, which provides access to 1,100 drug monograph entries and 2,700 patient education fact sheets; and Merriam-Webster’s Medical Desk Dictionary

Hoover’s Company Records - Find up to date proprietary editorial content covering more than 40,000 public and non-public companies and 225,000 key executives. Hoover’s delivers in depth industry analyses, information on a company’s location, summary financials, top competitors, top officers, and more.

History Online is a Reference database containing biographies, events & topics, overview essays, primary sources and more. The content covers American, Modern World, and Ancient and Medieval History.

History Reference Center - History Reference Center offers full text from more than 1,620 reference books, encyclopedias and non-fiction books, cover to cover full text for more than 150 leading history periodicals, nearly 57,000 historical documents, more than 78,000 biographies of historical figures, more than 113,000 historical photos and maps, and more than 80 hours of historical video.

Informe is a Spanish language full-text database containing articles from popular Spanish and bilingual periodical/reference materials. Funded by the New Jersey State Library.

JerseyClicks - is the NJ statewide portal of full-text databases from the NJ State Library, the New Jersey Network, and with funds from the Library Services and Technology Act. In addition to health, history, business and other databases, is Informe, a Spanish language full-text database containing articles from popular Spanish and bilingual periodical/reference materials. To access Jersey Clicks from off campus, enter your library card number when prompted (barcode on the back of your Caldwell student ID).

JSTOR’s Arts & Sciences I collection includes core journals in economics, history, political science, and sociology, as well as in other key fields in the humanities and social sciences. Representative disciplines in this collection include: history, languages & literature, political science, business & economics, education and sociology. This collection also contains titles in ecology, mathematics, and statistics. 

Lexis-Nexis Academic – provides access to a wide range of news from English and non-English sources, business, legal, and medical information. Contains the full text for most of the articles.

LISTA - Library, Information Science & Technology Abstracts (LISTA) indexes more than 560 core journals, nearly 50 priority journals, and nearly 125 selective journals; plus books, research reports and proceedings. Subject coverage includes librarianship, classification, cataloging, bibliometrics, online information retrieval, information management and more. Coverage in the database extends back as far as the mid-1960s.

Literature Resource Center – provides access to biographies, bibliographies and critical analysis of authors from every age and literary discipline. All full-text articles.

LRC: Literary Reference Center  is a comprehensive full-text literary reference database which provides users with a broad spectrum of information from antiquity to the present day. LRC combines information from books, monographs, major literary encyclopedias, and literary journals. Funded by the New Jersey State Library.

MasterFile Premier - This multidisciplinary database provides full text for nearly 1,700 periodicals with full-text information dating as far back as 1975. Covering virtually every subject area of general interest, MasterFILE Premier also contains full text for nearly 500 reference books and over 164,400 primary source documents, as well as an Image Collection of over 592,000 photos, maps & flags. This database is updated daily via EBSCOhost.

MAS Ultra School Edition - Designed specifically for high school libraries, this database contains full text for nearly 500 popular, high school magazines. MAS Ultra – School Edition also provides more than 360 full text reference books, 85,670 biographies, over 107,000 primary source documents, and an Image Collection of over 510,000 photos, maps & flags, color PDFs and expanded full text backfiles (back to 1975) for key magazines.

MEDLINE® – (Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online) is a bibliographic database of life sciences and biomedical information. It includes bibliographic information for articles from academic journals covering medicine, nursing, pharmacy, dentistry, veterinary medicine, and health care. MEDLINE also covers much of the literature in biology and biochemistry, as well as fields such as molecular evolution.

Mental Measurements Yearbook with Tests in Print (TIP) - Produced by the Buros Institute at the University of Nebraska, the Mental Measurements Yearbook (MMY) provides users with a comprehensive guide to over 2,700 contemporary testing instruments. Designed for an audience ranging from novice test consumers to experienced professionals, the MMY series contains information essential for a complete evaluation of test products within such diverse areas as psychology, education, business, and leadership. All MMY entries contain descriptive information (e.g., test purpose, publisher, pricing) and edited review(s) written by leading content area experts. To be included in the MMY, a test must be commercially available, be published in the English language, and be new or revised since it last appeared in the series. First published by Oscar K. Buros, the MMY series allows users to make knowledgeable judgments and informed selection decisions about the increasingly complex world of testing. MMY provides coverage from Volume 9 to the present. MMY via EBSCOhost® now includes the MMY Archive providing all yearbooks from the first edition in 1938, through the 18th yearbook released in 2010 raising the total number of full-text reviews available on the product to over 7,000.

MLA International Bibliography – is a bibliography of journal articles, books, Web sites, and dissertations. It is published by the Modern Language Association.

Mergent Archives is an online database featuring a vast, indexed collection of corporate and industry related documents. The database contains hundreds of thousands of reports covering over 100 countries and industries. MiddleSearch - Middle Search Plus provides full text for more than 140 popular, middle school magazines. All full text articles included in the database are assigned a reading level indicator (Lexiles). Full text is also available for thousands of biographies and historical essays. Middle Search Plus also contains 84,774 biographies, 105,786 primary source documents, and a School Image Collection of photos, maps and flags.

Nursing and Allied Health Collection: Comprehensive – a valuable resource for nursing and allied health professionals, students, educators and researchers, this database provides full text for nearly 400 journals, covering the areas of nursing, biomedicine, health sciences, consumer health, and allied health disciplines.

Nursing Reference Center™ (NRC) – a comprehensive reference tool designed to provide relevant clinical resources to nurses and other health care professionals, directly at the point-of-care.

Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center – contains articles, topic overviews, primary documents and links to websites for a variety of social issues. All full-text articles.

Origins – this journal contains encyclicals, speeches and other papal messages, pastoral letters by the bishops; diocesan policy statements, current research, speeches in the news on public policy, liturgy, social justice, the parish, the family, and ministries.   Select SEARCH, then full access link to search 1975 to the present. Oxford Art Online – an integrated art resource that includes Grove Art Online (includes Grove’s Dictionary of Art which contains articles and updates on every aspect of the visual arts from prehistory to the present with images of the most frequently studied works of art), the Oxford Companion to Western Art, The Encyclopedia of Aesthetics and The Concise Oxford Dictionary of Art Terms.

The Oxford English Dictionary – widely acknowledged as the most authoritative and comprehensive dictionary of the English langauge.

Oxford Islamic Studies Online features reference content and commentary by renowned scholars. Oxford Music Online – an integrated music resource that includes Grove Music Online (includes the full text and updates of   The New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians 2nd ed., The New Grove Dictionary of Opera, and The New Grove Dictionary of Jazz, 2nd Ed), The Oxford Dictionary of Music and The Oxford Companion to Music .

Plunkett Research Online – is the leading provider of industry sector analysis and research, industry trends, and industry statistics.

Points of View Reference Center  is a full-text database designed to provide students with a series of controversial essays that present multiple sides of a current issue. Essays provide questions and materials for further thought and study, and are accompanied by supporting articles from the world’s top political and societal publications. PrimarySearch - Primary Search provides full text for more than 70 popular, magazines for elementary school research. All full text articles included in the database are assigned a reading level indicator (Lexiles), and full text information dates as far back as 1990.

Professional Development Collection - Designed for professional educators, this database provides a highly specialized collection of nearly 520 high quality education journals, including more than 350 peer-reviewed titles. This database also contains more than 200 educational reports. Professional Development Collection is the most comprehensive collection of full text education journals in the world.

PsycARTICLES – includes more than 153.000 full-text articles from 80 journals published by American Psychological Association and allied organizations. All journals included in this database are indexed in PsycINFO.

PsycINFO – covers psychology and the psychological aspects of related disciplines. Contains citations and abstracts for journal articles, chapters, books, dissertations, and reports and links to full-text when available.

Referencia Latina - Referencia Latina, a comprehensive Spanish-language database, offers content from a variety of sources including 49,000 encyclopedia entries, more than 300,000 images, 2,500 health reports, a Spanish-English dictionary and full text for over 100 reference books and dozens of general interest magazines in a broad array of subject areas. Daily updates ensure availability of the most current articles from a dozen prominent newspapers from 10 Latin American countries such as: El Comercio (Perú), El Mercurio (Chile), El Tiempo (Colombia), El Universal (México), El País (Uruguay), El Nacional (Venezuela), La Nación (Argentina), and La Nación (Costa Rica).

Resources for College Libraries – the online version of the new edition of Resources for College Libraries is used for library collection analysis and development.

Science Direct – a database of selected journals related to physical, medical, technical, and social sciences. This database contains full text articles from important autism journals such as Research in Autism Spectrum Disorders.

Science Reference Center - Science Reference Center is a comprehensive research database that provides easy access to a multitude of full text science-oriented content. This database contains full text for nearly 640 science encyclopedias, reference books, periodicals, etc. Topics covered include: biology, chemistry, earth & space science, environmental science, health & medicine, history of science, life science, physics, science & society, science as inquiry, scientists, technology and wildlife.

SIRS SIRS Government Reporter   contains current and historic government documents, directories and almanacs.   SIRS Renaissance   contains current perspectives on the arts and humanities.   SIRS Researcher   contains selected articles from popular journals and newspapers regarding current social issues, health, science, and business.

SocINDEX with Full Text – Offers comprehensive coverage of sociology, encompassing all sub-disciplines and closely related areas of study. These include abortion, criminology & criminal justice, demography, ethnic & racial studies, gender studies, marriage & family, political sociology, religion, social development, social psychology, social work, socio-cultural anthropology, and others. In addition to the full-text journals included in the database, extensive indexing for books/monographs, conference papers, periodicals and other non-periodical content sources is also included.

Standard & Poor’s NetAdvantage – A financial information resource with access to the S&P Industry Surveys (U.S.), reports (stock & bond), directories (corporations, Security Dealers of North America), registers (public companies, private companies, executives), Compustat Excel Analytics, Mutual fund screener, and investment advisory services (The Outlook).

Teacher Reference Center - Teacher Reference Center provides indexing and abstracts for 280 of the most popular teacher and administrator journals and magazines to assist professional educators. TOPICsearch - TOPICsearch contains full text for over 150,961 articles from 475 diverse sources including international and regional newspapers, EBSCO’s unparalleled collection of periodicals, biographies, public opinion polls, book reviews, pamphlets, and government information.

Ulrich’s - a bibliographic database providing detailed and comprehensive information on serials published throughout the world.

The Wall Street Journal  (1984 – current) – Local and regional news coverage – newspaper

World Geography and Culture – Facts on File provides this comprehensive reference site making it easy to study all aspects of a country, with facts at a glance and in-depth coverage through country entries, maps, flags, images, statistics, news articles, a gazetteer, and more.
