Writing Sample Requirements by Program

All writing samples should be typed, double-spaced, and use standard margins.

  • Ph.D. in Applied Behavior Analysis
 A research-based paper in applied behavior analysis or a related area of psychology of at least ten pages that was previously submitted as part of graduate course. If applicable, the applicant’s master’s thesis is preferable. Three to five page personal statement describing reasons for pursuing doctoral study in ABA at Caldwell College,current research interests, and preferred faculty member with whom to study (including reasons for this choice).
  • M.A. in Applied Behavior Analysis
  • Post-Master in Applied Behavior Analysis
 Submit a research-based paper in psychology or education of at least 10 pages that was previously submitted in an undergraduate or graduate course. APA style is preferred. Other subject matter may be considered if the candidate has had limited prior coursework in psychology or education.
  • M.B.A. – General and all Concentrations
  • M.S. in Accounting
 Briefly explain, in at least 200 words typed on separate paper, your objectives forentering this graduate program.
  • M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction
  • Post-Master ESL Certification
 One-two page typed statement of your goals/objectives for entering the M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction.
  • M.A. in Educational Administration
  • M.A. in Educational Administration – OCLD
 Explain in a typed essay of at least 750 words why you wish to be a school principal and/or supervisor; the leadership experiences you have had; and what specific leadership traits you believe you possess that would support your success in that position.
  • M.A. in Literacy Instruction
  • M.A. in Literacy Instruction with Reading Specialist Certification
  • Post-Master Reading Specialist Certification
 One-two page typed statement of the goals and objectives expected by the candidatewhile in the program.
  • M.A. in Special Education with TOSD
  • M.A. in Special Education with LDT-C
  • Post-Master LDT-C Certification
  • Post-Baccalaureate Special Education Certification
 Submit an essay of at least five pages, preferably related to special education, thatyou previously submitted as part of an undergraduate or graduate course.
  • Post-Master Superintendent Certification

  • Post-Master Supervisor Certification
 No writing sample required.
  • Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Certification
 Briefly explain, in at least 200 words typed on separate paper, your objectives for entering this graduate program.
  • M.A. in Counseling with Mental Health Specialization
  • M.A. in Counseling with School Counseling Specialization
  • Post-Master Director of School Counseling
  • Post-Master School Counselor Specialization

  • Post-Master Professional Counselor Licensing
 Submit a research-based paper of 5-10 pages that was previously submitted in anundergraduate or graduate psychology course; APA style is preferred.
