International Student Admission Policy
International applicants must complete the Caldwell College application for graduate study, including the non-refundable application fee of US$40 (check or money order), payable to Caldwell College. They must demonstrate their qualifications for study by submitting the specific materials required by each academic program. Please refer to the admissions requirement chart or a current catalogue or admissions packet for a complete checklist of program-specific admission requirements. It is the applicant’s responsibility to see that all required materials are received on time in the Office of Graduate Studies.
All international transcripts must be submitted to the World
Evaluation Service (http://www.wes.org) or another provider affliated
with the National Association of Credential
Evaluation Services (www.naces.org) for certified conversion to American
academic measures. After we review an application and transcript, further
instructions will be mailed to the student.
Applicants must also demonstrate sufficient English language proficiency
to meet graduate-level academic standards in English-only classes. Students
educated in languages other than English must submit scores on the Test
of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL); their website can be found
at http://www.ets.org/toefl. A
minimum TOEFL score is required (total 580 on the paper test, 237 on the
computer test, and 92 on the Internet-based test). Upon admission to Caldwell
College, students may also be tested on campus for English language proficiency
in order to make recommendations for supplementary work on English skills
through ESL classes or tutoring. In making their educational plans, international
applicants should consider seriously whether their level of English proficiency
will be an obstacle to doing acceptable graduate-level academic work in
an English-only environment.
Caldwell College will send you a Form I-20 with your application materials. You can click here for information and required forms. The I-20 is an official government form, certifying eligibility for F-1 student status. A form I-20 is required for all non-immigrants applying for full-time study in F-1 status at a federally approved U. S. academic institution, and this form is used to apply for a student visa from the student's local American Embassy. If you are currently enrolled in a U.S. institution of higher education, contact the College’s International Student Advisor at 973-618-3494 for other forms needed in your situation.
Federal aid such as grants, loans, and work-study is available for only legal and permanent residents of the United States. Only international students who have a Permanent Resident Alien visa for an entire year are eligible for financial aid. In general, international students are expected to have the financial capability to fund each year of their education and must supply proof of that capability.
Please note the following application deadlines for completed admission dossiers. International applicants should allow ample time for all necessary materials to arrive on time in order for their complete files to be reviewed and for I-20 issuance.
We strongly recommend that international applicants submit a complete admission dossier by the deadlines stated below.
- Summer: April 1 (Term A); May 1 (Term B)
- Fall: July 1
- Spring: November 1
