Substance Awareness

An anonymous non-emergency message line that will allow students to share their concerns about campus safety issues, a student’s emotional health or a friend’s alcohol or other drug use, is now in service. The Helpline was conceptualized & designed by Robin Davenport, Ivan Largo, Bill Ortman & Sandy Rock. By dialing 3333, users will be directed to the corresponding voice mailbox in which to leave their message. The messages will be screened by the appropriate administrator to determine what type of response will be most effective.

Bill Ortman, Director of Campus Safety, states “This is an excellent opportunity for the students to contribute and participate in the safety and security of their own campus and residence halls. Part of the development of students into mature adults is speaking up against a wrong, even if you do it anonymously”
