Music Department’s Rob Middleton is Guest on One-on-One with Steve Adubato

IMG_20140623_120851_409-1Music Department Professor Rob Middleton is a guest on One-on-One with Steve Adubato . Middleton, a composer and conductor, shares how he first became interested in jazz as a child after hearing Charlie Parker play. He describes jazz as a crown jewel of African American culture, a profound expression of the American experience and talks about how all Americans should be familiar with this great cultural heritage. He describes how he went from performing to teaching and how teaching helps one understand music on a deeper level. Middleton explains how a university learning environment can be a very good place to open up the world of music to students who have not had much exposure to the study of music, and jazz in particular.

Fall 2014 Graduate New Student Orientation

  • Faculty will conduct in-depth presentations which will include information about career and internship opportunities in your major, and more.
  • You can discuss your individual financial aid awards with a financial aid representative, get general financial aid information or learn how to file.
  • Whether it’s your first time on campus or if you’ve been here before and need another look, campus tours will be available throughout the day.
  • Our student leaders from campus clubs and organizations will be part of the crowd – no doubt they will be looking for new members.
  • Living on campus? Our Residence Life Office will be on board. Playing sports??Catch our coaches during the day. Interested in studying abroad? Travel on over to get your answers.
  • Get your Caldwell gear at our Manning Campus Store which will be open throughout the day.
  • And meet potential new classmates and friends…
