CALDWELL SOFTBALL ADDS EIGHT RECRUITS FOR 2009-10

A recruiting class of eight student-athletes will be joining the Caldwell College softball team for the 2009-2010 academic year, head coach Dean Johnson announced. The class includes infielders Dia Cascone (Staten Island, NY/Susan Wagner), Cassandra Cefolo (Florham Park, NJ/Hanover Park), Mariah Lucena (Belleville, NJ/Belleville) and Sierra Parker (Chino Hills, CA/Chino Hills); outfielders Katie Dellaratta (Deptford, NJ/Deptford) and Amy Leal (New Bedford, MA/Bishop Stang); and pitchers Kelly Schymanski (Pottstown, PA/Owen J. Roberts) and Kourtney Wilson (Islip, NY/St. Anthony’s).

COUGAR SOFTBALL OPENS SEASON AT REBEL GAMES

KISSIMMEE, Fla. - The Caldwell College softball team played two close games but lost both at the Rebel spring Games Saturday morning at the Fortune Road Complex. The Cougars fell to Le Moyne College in eight innings, 4-0, before losing to No. 10 C.W. Post, 1-0. The results mark the beginning of the season for Caldwell (0-2).

CALDWELL TABBED FOR FIRST IN CACC SOFTBALL PRESEASON POLL

The Caldwell College softball team received the top spot in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Softball Preseason Poll, as voted on by the league's 13 head coaches. The Cougars, who have won four of the past five CACC Tournament titles and are ranked 24th nationally, received eight first-place votes and 163 points, three more than runner-up Georgian Court University.

CAPARDI NAMED A FIRST TEAM SOFTBALL ALL-AMERICAN

Caldwell College junior Gina Capardi (West Caldwell, NJ/Caldwell) has been named to the All-America first teams by Daktronics and the National Fastpitch Coaches Association, the organizations announced this week. Capardi becomes Caldwell College's first softball first team All-American in the history of the program.
