CALDWELL MEN'S SOCCER PICKED SIXTH IN CACC PRESEASON POLL

The Caldwell College men's soccer team was selected to finish sixth in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference's 2009 Preseason Poll, released today. The Cougars, who finished first during the regular season with a conference record of 8-1-1, received two first-place votes and a total of 99 points in the poll conducted by the league's 12 head coaches.

CALDWELL, N.J. - For the second straight game the Caldwell College men's soccer team allowed three unanswered goals in the second half as the Cougars lost to Dominican College, 4-1 in a game between unbeaten Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference foes Tuesday afternoon at Caldwell Field. With the loss, Caldwell falls to 3-1 in conference play and 6-5 overall, while the Chargers improve to 7-2 overall, 3-0 CACC.

The loss ends a four-game winning streak for the Cougars, who drop to 6-4 on the season. The Golden Lions win their second straight to improve to 5-2. Senior forward Chad Bennett (Kingston, Jamaica/Campion) scored his team-leading sixth goal of the season.

Caldwell College men’s soccer player Nicholas Harriott (St. Catherine, Jamaica/Campion) has been chosen the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference's Scholar-Athlete of the Year, along with women's cross country runner Joy Aifuwa of the University of the Sciences, CACC Commissioner Dan Mara announced today. Harriott and Aifuwa are now eligible for the NCAA Division II Conference Commissioners Association national scholar-athlete award.
