CALDWELL MEN'S BASKETBALL ANNOUNCES RECRUITING CLASS

Seven student-athletes are set to join the Caldwell College men’s basketball team for the upcoming 2009-2010 academic year, head coach Mark A. Corino announced. The recruiting class includes four guards and three forwards. The Cougars return seven players from last year’s squad that went 12-16.

SCOTT RETURNS TO MEN'S BASKETBALL STAFF AT CALDWELL

Caldwell College men's basketball coach Mark A. Corino announced today that Joe Scott will re-join his staff as an assistant coach. Scott, who spent the past four seasons as the head coach at Union County College in Cranford, N.J., was a member of Corino's staff from 1998 to 2005.

LYNCH, PEREZ SELECTED TO ALL-MET BASKETBALL FIRST TEAMS

Caldwell College seniors Mackenzie Lynch (Wayne, NJ/DePaul Catholic) and Manny Perez (Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) were named to the Division II All-Met first teams by the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association, the organization announced. This is the third consecutive year on the all-Met women's basketball first team for Lynch, while Perez is a repeat selection on the men's first team after earning all-Met second team honors in 2005 and 2006.

Caldwell College senior forward Manny Perez (Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) has been selected an ECAC Division II Men's Basketball All-Star, the organization announced on Thursday. Perez, who was included on the second team, was one of 10 players named an ECAC All-Star in voting conducted by the head coaches of ECAC member institutions.

He is one of 20 players representing all eight regions to be invited to play in the All-Star Game, which will be played on Friday, Mar. 27 in Springfield, Mass., as a part of the NCAA Division II Elite Eight Tournament.

PEREZ SELECTED TO DAKTRONICS ALL-EAST REGION SECOND TEAM

Caldwell College senior forward Manny Perez (Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) was named to the Daktronics All-East Region second team, the organization announced today. Perez, who led the Cougars in both scoring and rebounding this past season, is the first Caldwell men's basketball player to earn all-Region honors since the College became a full NCAA Division II member institution in 2002.

The Caldwell College men's basketball team ended its 2008-09 season with a loss to Bloomfield College, 95-71 in the first round of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament Tuesday night in the Bloomfield Gymnasium. The result eliminates the Cougars from the tournament and gives them a 12-16 record on the season. The Deacons, seeded first in the North, improve to 22-6 and advance to the semifinals, which will be held at Philadelphia University on Friday.....

COMEBACK FALLS SHORT AS COUGARS LOSE TO RAMS IN MEN'S HOOPS

The Caldwell College men's basketball team came all the way back from a 17-point second-half deficit, only to lose to Philadelphia University, 63-57 in the regular-season finale Friday evening in the George R. Newman Center. The loss leaves the Cougars (12-15 overall, 8-8 CACC) in a tie with Felician College for third place in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference North Division standings. Since the tie-breaker is in favor of Felician, Caldwell will be the fourth seed in the CACC Tournament and will play Bloomfield College in the first round. The Rams, who had already clinched first in the CACC South, improve to 22-5, 14-2 CACC.

CALDWELL MEN'S BASKETBALL DEFEATS DOMINICAN TO CLINCH PLAYOFF SPOT

The Caldwell College men's basketball team earned a hard-fought victory over Dominican College, 84-79 in an important Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest Tuesday evening in the George R. Newman Center. The win gives the Cougars (12-14 overall) an 8-7 record in the conference and wraps up a spot in the CACC Tournament, which begins next week. The Chargers complete their season with an overall record of 10-17, including a 5-11 mark in the CACC.

The Caldwell College men's basketball team lost to Wilmington University, 91-64 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest at the Pratt Center Saturday afternoon. The Cougars are now 11-14 overall and 7-7 in league play, while the last-place Wildcats end a 11-game losing streak and improve to 6-20, 3-12 CACC. Senior forward Manny Perez (Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) led all scorers with 25 points, giving him 1,802 points in his collegiate career.

The Caldwell College men's basketball team dropped a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest to Bloomfield College, 93-77 Tuesday night at the Bloomfield Gymnasium. The Cougars are now 11-13 overall and 7-6 in the league, while the Deacons (19-6 overall) remain atop the CACC North Division standings with a 13-1 conference mark.  Caldwell was led by senior guard Carl Augustin (Stony Point, NY/Don Bosco Prep), who had 19 points.

Freshman guard Nik Otovic (Kraljevo, Serbia) nailed a 12-foot jumper with 22 seconds left to give the Caldwell College men's basketball team a 63-62 victory over Holy Family University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game Saturday night in the George R. Newman Center. With the win, the Cougars improve to 11-12 overall and 7-5 in the conference, while the Tigers fall to 7-17, 6-7 CACC.
