The Caldwell College volleyball team was chosen as the favorite to win the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference North Division this season, according to the CACC Preseason Volleyball Poll. The Cougars, who finished first in the CACC North last season, received 10 first-place votes and a total of 94 points in the poll, which was conducted by the conference's 13 head coaches.

CALDWELL VOLLEYBALL RECEIVES TEAM ACADEMIC AWARD FROM AVCA

The Caldwell College volleyball team was among 46 NCAA Division II volleyball programs to receive the Team Academic Award from the American Volleyball Coaches Association, the organization announced. This is the first year the Cougars earned the honor, which recognizes teams for their academic achievement.

The Caldwell College volleyball team is adding two student-athletes to the program this fall, head coach Megan Hrbek announced. Maddy Amon, a libero from Louisville, Ky., and Susan McDonough, an outside hitter from Saline, Mich., will join 12 returning players from last year's squad that went 18-11 and captured the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference North Division crown.

CALDWELL VOLLEYBALL WINS CACC NORTH WITH VICTORY AT NYACK

Just one season after finishing in last place, the Caldwell College volleyball team clinched the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference North Division regular-season title with Thursday's four-set victory at Nyack College. The Cougars (17-9 overall), who won by scores of 19-25, 25-14, 26-24, 25-17, improve to 13-3 in conference play and are two games ahead of second-place Bloomfield College with one match remaining. The Warriors, who are in fourth place in the CACC North, fall to 6-24 overall, 5-11 CACC.

CALDWELL VOLLEYBALL EARNS CACC VICTORY AT POST

The Caldwell College volleyball team defeated Post University in four sets on Tuesday in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match in Waterbury , Conn. With the win, the Cougars improve to 4-5 overall and 2-0 in the CACC, while the Eagles fall to 1-11, 0-2 CACC. Just nine matches into the season, Caldwell has equaled its win total of last year, when the Cougars finished 4-24. Freshman Amber Mosher (Flanders, NJ/Mount Olive) had a team-high 15 kills.

Caldwell College freshman setter Lauren Roth (Findlay, OH/Findlay) was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 21, the league announced today. Roth is Caldwell's first volleyball player to receive the CACC's top weekly honor after helping the Cougars win a pair of matches last week.

The Caldwell College volleyball team dropped an exciting match to Southern Connecticut State University, 14-25, 25-21, 16-25, 25-21, 15-13 Monday evening in the George R. Newman Center. The result comes just three weeks after the Owls easily handled the Cougars in three straight sets in New Haven, Conn., on Sept. 2. Caldwell falls to 3-5 with the non-conference loss, while SCSU improves to 15-3 with its eighth consecutive victory. Freshman Amber Mosher (Flanders, NJ/Mount Olive) recorded her first career double-double with 16 kills and 14 digs.

Sophomore middle blocker Keesha Francois (Elkins Park, PA/Cheltenham) tallied 13 kills and a .310 hitting percentage to pace the Caldwell College volleyball team to a four-set victory at Molloy College, 26-24, 23-25, 25-17, 25-21 Saturday afternoon at Quealy Gymnasium. The win is the Cougars' second in a row and gives them an overall record of 3-4, while the Lions drop to 3-7.

The win also marked the first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match for the Cougars, who are now 2-4 on the season. Dominican falls to 0-6, 0-2 CACC. Caldwell won the four-set match 25-16, 25-23, 21-25, 25-12.

The Caldwell College volleyball team dropped both of its matches on the final day of the Le Moyne College Tournament, losing to the University of Bridgeport, 3-1 and to Le Moyne, 3-0 on Sunday at Ted Grant Court. The Cougars went 1-3 in the tournament and are now 1-4 overall. Freshman setter Lauren Roth (Findlay, OH/Findlay), who averaged 5.3 assists per set this weekend, was named to the all-Tournament Team.

The Caldwell College volleyball team started the 2008 season with a loss to Southern Connecticut State University in a non-conference match Tuesday night. The Cougars, who were 4-24 a year ago, lost in three sets, 25-11, 25-16 and 25-18. With the win, the Owls improved to 4-1 on the season.
