CALDWELL MEN'S SOCCER PICKED SIXTH IN CACC PRESEASON POLL

CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College men's soccer team was selected to finish sixth in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference's 2009 Preseason Poll, released today. The Cougars, who finished first during the regular season with a conference record of 8-1-1, received two first-place votes and a total of 99 points in the poll conducted by the league's 12 head coaches.

The Cougars, coached by Jamie Nash, finished the 2008 season with an overall record of 11-7-1 and advanced to the CACC Tournament semifinals for the sixth straight year. The team’s performance earned Nash his first CACC Coach of the Year award. Among the returnees is senior midfielder Justin Miller (Monroe, NJ/Monroe), pictured, who has tallied 31 points in his career at Caldwell. Other seniors include defenders Justin Everett (Stewartstown, PA/Kennard Dale) and Kyle Plaugic (Kearny, NJ/Kearny), and midfielders Peter Carlsson (Lycke, Sweden) and Mark Costa (Nutley, NJ/Nutley).

Post, which eliminated the Cougars in the semifinals of the CACC Tournament en route to winning the championship, received six first-place votes and totaled 129 points to earn the top spot in the Preseason Poll. Dominican garnered 117 points and one first-place vote, while Wilmington was tabbed third with 109 points. The CACC welcomes Concordia College into the league this season as the Clippers move from the East Coast Conference.

The Cougars begin the 2009 season on Aug. 27 against Bloomsburg University at the Nyack Tournament in Nyack, N.Y
