The Women's Center at Caldwell College
The Women's Center is committed to the well-being and diversity of women, and offers a safe and open environment to women and men for exploring women's issues and concerns. Located on the first floor of Mother Joseph Residence Hall, the Women's Center offers students information, programs, support and referrals, and provides a warm supportive atmosphere that celebrates strength and promotes healing.
Goals
The Women's Studies program seeks to provide opportunities for women and men to discover new perspectives on gender roles, feminism, and women contributions to society. Through courses and other activities, women are encouraged to find their own voices and develop fully as members of the human community.
Services
Guidance in stress management, relaxation, meditation and time management techniques.
Feminist Book Shelf
Books, magazines, articles and other literature by and about women.
Information
Pamphlet's on health issues, body image, sexuality, food and eating concerns; relationships, domestic abuse, violence and rape. Referrals and hot-lines for on-campus, local, state, and national organizations.
Activities
In addition to offering the academic minor, the Women's Studies Program sponsors discuss groups and lectures throughout the year in cooperation with the Women's Center on the first floor of Mother Joseph Residence Hall. The Center can be reached at 973-618-3775
Events
Throughout each semester the Women's Center in cooperation with the Women's Studies Program will host and co-sponsor events, such as Women's Week, Body Pride Week, International Women's Day, and Diversity Week, Fair Trade Fairs, Slow Food Potlucks, guest speakers, bake sales and more.
