STUDENT CLUBS, ACTIVITIES & OPPORTUNITIES
Music
Educators National Conference, or MENC, is the student run music club
at Caldwell College. The purpose of this organization is to make available
to it's members the opportunity for professional development, to acquaint
students with the privileges and responsibilities of the music education
profession, to assist Caldwell College in various projects and events
throughout the year, and to provide an opportunity to have contact with
collegiate members from other schools. As a club, MENC also sponsors trips
to musical performances as well as educational workshops. MENC is open
to all students who are interested in education and share a love of music.
The Caldwell College Concert Series is a professional series that brings world class performers to our campus.
The Music Department Concerts includes student pop concerts, chamber music, student recitals and large ensemble concerts.
Concert Trips to professional opera productions and symphony concerts in the metropolitan area are planned throughout the year.
Student performance opportunities are available on and off campus throughout the school year. Performance venues include the Caldwell Public Library, the Lifelong Learning Institute, Alumni Events, Admissions Open Houses, as well as Performance Classes, Studio Classes and Masses.
Class
Size - Most classes in the music department have approximately 15
students. This size class allows a professor increased teaching time with
each student. The individual attention brings out the best in Caldwell
students.
Course Offerings - Along with the performance classes and ensembles, we offer classes in general music history and theory, as well as specialized classes in opera, jazz, musical theater, women in music, computers in music, American music and the study of individual composers.
Ensembles - The following groups are open to all students and employees of Caldwell College: Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, College Choir and Opera Workshop Ensemble.
