Applicants must be accepted both academically by the College and musically by the Music Department. An in-person performance audition is required of all applicants to the music program. The evaluation of your audition by the faculty will be the most important factor in granting admission to the department. A placement test in music theory will be given on audition day. CALDWELL COLLEGE OPERA AND VOCAL TRAINING CAMPThis is the ideal camp for a young singer who has some solo experience and would like to learn more about their voice and the world of vocal performance in a supportive atmosphere. Students will receive both group and individual instruction in voice and diction and participate in classes in Yoga for singers, Alexander Technique, and preparing for an audition. They will participate in a master class and prepare staged scenes for the final performance. High School pianists interested in accompanying are invited to audition for the camp. Coaching with Dr. Childress will focus on stylistic interpretation of the repertoire and the art of working and performing with a singer. Qualified High School juniors and seniors may register to receive 1 college credit through Project Excel, for participating in the camp.
