a more comprehensive introduction to some of the core liberal arts and
sciences disciplines and aims at a greater integration of humanistic and
scientific ways of knowing. While this major is open to all students in
the traditional undergraduate program, it is particularly suited to students
intending to also major in elementary education since its primary focus
is the four key subject areas of the elementary curriculum: English, Social
