The Pre-Medical Post-Baccalaureate Certificate Program at Caldwell College is designed for recent college graduates as well as those who explored other interests or careers before choosing to pursue a career in medicine or other health professions. The program assists individuals with a bachelor’s degree seeking to change careers to a healthcare field and need to complete the science courses required for medical school application. It also serves those who wish to strengthen their academic records to prepare for application to medical school or other health professional school.

Pre-Medical Post-Baccalaureate Certificate Program:

  • Baccalaureate degree in any field from an accredited institution
  • Official transcripts of all college work completed
  • A written autobiographical statement explaining reason for applying to the program
  • Personal interview with Program Director
  • Admission is on a rolling basis in spring, summer, and fall semesters

 Pre-Medical Post-Baccalaureate Certificate Program:

  •  Undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher
  •  Maintain a post-baccalaureate GPA of 3.2 in the program
  •  Complete a minimum of 40 credits of pre-medical coursework
  •  Take MCAT with a minimum combined score of 28; or
  •  DAT Score of 19 or higher; or GRE
  •  Maintain an application file in the Caldwell College Health Professions Office

CAPSTONE SEMINAR IN THE HEALTH PROFESSIONS (HS 341, 1CR):

Affords the students an opportunity to learn about current issues in the health professions from healthcare professionals and experts in the field. The goal of the seminar is to enable participants to obtain accurate and comprehensive information about the healthcare profession and make an informed career choice.

HEALTHCARE INTERNSHIP (HS 489, 4CR):

A structured healthcare internship which provides opportunity for practical experience and pre-professional mentoring in a variety of healthcare delivery settings, this supervised learning environment introduces interns to the clinical and research environment for healthcare professionals. Students gain practical knowledge and experience working under supervision in a professional setting at their placement and submit a written paper at the end of the internship experience.

The cost of the Pre-Medical Post-Baccalaureate Certificate Program at Caldwell College depends on the number of credits completed.

The Caldwell College Pre-Medical Post-Baccalaureate Certificate Program provides individualized advising for postbaccalaureate students to broaden and enrich their academic preparation for application to medical and health professional schools in a supportive learning environment. Students receive a customized academic plan to meet their individual academic needs and timeline for program completion and application.

A certificate option is available to students who complete a minimum of 40 credits with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or better.

In addition to the required coursework, a minimum MCAT score of 28, DAT score of 19 or GRE percentile scores of 65% verbal, 65% quantitative, and 4.5 writing from one exam are required for the award of the Pre-Medical Post-Baccalaureate Certificate Program.
