The Communication Arts Department continues the transition of its TV studio to high definition and digital production. During the Fall of 2011, the department added a new video switcher (Panasonic Digital AV Mixer AG-HMX100), a digital video player (Elo Touchscreen Monitor hooked up to a Mac Mini for playback), a digital video recorder (iMac with Final Cut Pro for digital recording) and high definition monitors.
These scenes are from Professor Bob Mann “Senior Media Seminar” class which produces the weekly TV show “Media Watch.” Students, under the supervision of Studio Manager Nick Amabile used the new equipment for the first time during the production of that program. Professor John Yurko purchased the equipment on behalf of the department as part of his sabbatical project.
Professor Mann, Chair of the Communication Arts, says the department is committed to providing state-of-the-art facilities for our students. The department specializes in broadcast journalism and radio/TV performance, but also has a strong production component.
