The Office of Health Services is located in Mother Joseph Residence Hall, Room 301. Health Services provides a full range of primary care treatment and referral. These services are available to all members of the college community.
Health Services is also responsible for the College's compliance with state laws concerning immunizations. All required health documentation must be received and verified by the Health Service staff prior to class participation. Failure to comply will affect a student's enrollment status. Full time students are also required to have a physical.

WHAT ARE MY RESPONSIBILITIES?
Our goal at Student Health Services is to nurture and maintain optimum health for all students and employees at Caldwell College. We encourage you to become an active participant in your care and treatment. Resident students are expected to bring an ample supply of prescription medications they may be taking, along with a supply of over the counter medication they deem helpful in maintaining wellness. Vitamins are not provided by Student Health Services, although they may also be a supportive addition to the busy students' health.
WHEN CAN I GO TO STUDENT HEALTH SERVICES?
The office is staffed during the fall and spring semesters when classes are in session. For hours of operations, check the posted schedule outside the Student Health Services Office or call (973)618-3319.
DO I HAVE TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT?
Any student in need of health care is encouraged to use the Student Health Services on a walk-in basis. There is always a qualified college health nurse available during office hours who will be able to address most of your health care needs. Students may see the college physician free of charge.
WHAT ABOUT AFTER - HOURS EMERGENCIES?
After-hours emergency care is available at:
| Mountainside Hospital Bay Avenue, Montclair, NJ |
St. Barnabas Hospital Old Short Hills Road, Livingston, NJ |
Fees as well as transportation to those facilities are the students' responsibility. In an extreme emergency, transportation can be provided by the West Essex First Aid Squad.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
There are no charges for services provided by the College Health Nurses or the College physician during regular office hours at Student Health Services.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO USE STUDENT HEALTH SERVICES?
Commuter and residential students are eligible for all services. Faculty and staff are also treated for sudden illness or injury while on campus.
ABSENTEEISM AND NOTIFICATION OF ILLNESS
Health Services does not routinely provide class absence excuses. Conveying information regarding illness to the professor is the student's responsibility. Excuses from class are an academic, not a medical policy. In the event the illness is prolonged for more than three (3) days, the student is required to notify the Dean of Student Life.
CONFIDENTIALITY
All services provided by Student Health Services are confidential.
No information is released without the written permission of the student.
