SCHOLARS FORUM

Each spring all students who complete an Honors Project in that academic year must also do a brief presentation. Students may invite friends, faculty and family to this forum, which will be followed by refreshments. All participating Scholars are to be present as well. The forum gives Caldwell Scholars an opportunity to share what they have learned with a wider audience. It is meant to be stimulating and celebratory.

New Scholars’ Forum Format

This year, the Scholars’ Forum will have a new “poster session” format instead of 10-minute speeches. All presenters will prepare a professional-style poster to summarize their research and final project. The presenters will summarize their work in a 2-3 minute oral presentation and be prepared to answer questions from small groups of people visiting the posters. Professor Angelina Scimone has an example of a scientific poster in her office, and Professor Virginia Rich will guide students on how to create a board and prepare the oral summary. Poster sessions, which are common in professional circles, will prepare students for future presentations in their chosen professions.
