

As of January 2002, the college and university libraries in the VALE consortium agreed to extend reciprocal borrowing privileges to their respective full-time faculty, and staff and in July, 2004, the VALE libraries agreed to extend reciprocal borrowing privileges to each other's graduate students.
Starting September, 2008, the VALE Libraries agreed to expand their participation and extend reciprocal borrowing privileges to each other's undergraduate students.
Consult the lists of VALE Reciprocal Borrowing Participating Libraries for Faculty and Staff or for Graduate Students or Undergraduate Students to determine if you qualify for onsite borrowing privileges at the library you are interested in visiting.
To be eligible, one must be a full-time faculty member, staff member, graduate or undergraduate student of a participating VALE institution.
The borrower must present a valid photo I.D. and the original completed VALE Reciprocal Borrowing Application Form which has been signed by his/her home library. Registration for VALE reciprocal borrowers is valid through June 30th of each year.
VALE Reciprocal Borrowers may have a total of three (3) items checked out to their account at any given time. Only circulating materials may be borrowed for a loan period of twenty eight days (28). No renewals are permitted. Exceptions to this policy must be approved by the Library Director in advance. Fines for overdue books are 10 cents per day, per book. Recalls are $1.00 per day after recall due date.
The Reciprocal Borrower is responsible for the replacement cost of lost or damaged items. Damaged materials are subject to a $10.00 non-refundable processing fee plus damage assessment, depending upon extent of damage. Lost materials are subject to a $10.00 non-refundable processing fee plus a $50.00 replacement fee.
VALE Reciprocal Borrowers cannot place holds, recalls or interlibrary loan requests. Borrowing privileges will be suspended if one or more checked out items is overdue; if there are unpaid fines or bills; or if there are any unresolved problem transactions.
All items must be returned directly to the Jennings Library at Caldwell College.
