

• Use CALCAT,
the library’s online catalog, to locate books, print periodicals,
and audiovisual materials in Jennings Library.
• JerseyCat provides access to library
catalogs throughout New Jersey, and includes academic libraries. Use
JerseyCat to borrow books and journal articles using interlibrary loan.
• WorldCat
is a bibliographic database with over 39 million records of books and
other materials held in thousands of academic, public, special and national
libraries around the world. Use to Worldcat to borrow books using interlibrary
loan.
• CALCAT allows you to access your personal library record. In CALCAT, select the My Account tab at the top of the page. You
will be prompted to enter a User ID which is the barcode located on the back of your student ID card, and a PIN which is the last 6
digits of the same barcode. You may also access your CALCAT account using your student ID number from the front of your ID card in
the alternate ID box, and the last 6 digits of the barcode on the back of your student ID card as the PIN number. Once you are
logged into your account, you can view items checked out, change your PIN, change contact information, place holds,
renew books, and view fines.
• If you use MyAccount to place a hold on an item that is checked out, you will be notified when an item that is checked out is returned and the book will be held for you.
• If you have forgotten or have a problem with your Jennings Library CALCAT Patron Account, contact the Circulation Department at 973-618-3337.
• Ebooks are electronic versions of printed books which may be
accessed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from any computer connected to
the Internet.
• You can browse or search either ebook collection by entering
netLibrary or the
Gale Virtual Reference Library. You can also locate ebooks by searching
CALCAT (Jennings Library’s catalog of print and ebooks). Our ebook
holdings are identified in CALCAT by ebook in the call number. Simply
follow the link below the ebook call number in CALCAT to link directly
into the Ebook.
• To access netLibrary or the
Gale Virtual Reference Library ebook collections from home, enter
your Caldwell College email (NetID) login and password when prompted.
• Use the Find
Journals by Title link on the Jennings Library homepage to
find out if the library owns a specific journal and whether it is paper,
microfilm, or full-text online in a subscription database.
• You can also use Find
Journals by Title to search for journal titles by subject area.
• Select the Find Articles in Databases
link from the library’s homepage.
• Select your subject area to see a list of databases recommended
for your discipline or, select a database directly from the complete
Databases A-Z list.
• Select a specific database and enter your search terms.
• If the article you want is full-text on that database, select
the full-text option.
• If the article you want is not available full-text on that database,
select the
icon
or check for full-text availability link to see if it is available in
another of our databases full-text.
• When you try to access the library databases from home, a
Caldwell College Databases Login page appears, prompting you for a user
name and password.
• Be sure to use your Caldwell College email (NetID) login and
password (the username is typically your name followed by your program,
e.g. jsmithED, and a password may look like this: A1b2C3 and is case
sensitive).
• If you do not have a Caldwell College email (NetID) username
and password, or if you have forgotten yours, go to Building 4, Room
205, or apply online using the NetID
Request Form. You may also use this form if you are locked out of
your NetID/email account.
• The login and password that you use for registration and grades
cannot be used to access the library databases.
• First, try to locate the item in WorldCat. Interlibrary loan
requests can be initiated directly from WorldCat by locating the item
and then selecting the request this item link. Use your Caldwell College
email account (NetID) when submitting interlibrary loan requests.
• Traditional Interlibrary Loan forms are available at the reference
desk as well as online and
may be used when the item cannot be located on WorldCat.

• Caldwell College students residing outside of Essex County,
as well as those who live in North Caldwell, West Caldwell and Essex
Fells, can obtain a ReBL card. A ReBL card allows students to borrow
from most Essex County libraries including several academic libraries.
Students who are Essex County residents can obtain a ReBL card from
their public library.
• Member libraries of the VALE consortium extend reciprocal borrowing
privileges to each other's graduate students. Onsite borrowing privileges
at participating VALE libraries is by application, available in the
Jennings Library. More info.
• Many libraries, both public and academic, allow visitors to
use books, journals and other materials in the library and/or make copies
of them. You will need to find out about library privileges for these
libraries.

live online research help is available 24 hours a day, seven days a
week at www.QandANJ.org. Funded
by the New Jersey State Library and developed in cooperation with the
South Jersey Regional Library Cooperative, Q and A NJ is staffed by
professional librarians from participating libraries across the state
(including Caldwell College). Librarians chat and co-browse with users
in real time, using technology that combines Internet chat with the
ability to send journal articles, Web site links and other information
directly to your computer.
Photocopying or copying from microfilm is 10 cents a page. Printing from the computers is 10 cents a page and can be picked up at the circulation desk. The librarian can show you how to print double-sided to save paper and money.
Yes. Headphones or ear buds are needed when listening to music. Ear buds can be purchased at the circulation desk for $3.00.
No personal files can be saved on the library computers; students should save all files to a personal flash drive.
