Telephones & Voicemail

911 Calls

In order to dial off campus numbers, faculty and staff have to dial the prefix 7. In case of an emergency, anyone on campus can still dial 911 directly. Dialing 911 from any campus telephone goes directly to the Caldwell Police Department.

If you accidentally dial this number, please do not hang up the phone, simply let the dispatcher know that you mistakenly dialed the number. Hang-ups to 911 result in the Police Department coming to campus.

ViewMail

All employees on campus are eligible to have ViewMail software installed on their computers. With speakers, you are able to listen to and manage your voice messages via the computer. Viewmail will ring your phone when sending a voice message so you can record your message. It is optional to have a separate microphone.

If you are interested, we encourage you to purchase your own microphone and speakers and to call 2222 for a software installation appointment and tutorial.

Call Help

If you have any telephone or voice mail related questions call ext. 4357 (HELP).

Many people have been calling the computer support line for phone questions. Although we would like to assist you, phones are not our area of expertise.

Calling ext. 4357 will connect you to STC, our contracted phone support company. They can handle many issues that arise. However, if the problem involves an on-site issue, STC will refer your call to the appropriate person on campus.

Voice Mail

To access your voice mail from off campus:

  • Dial 973-618-3000
  • During the greeting, enter 9 plus your extension (9 + extension)
  • Enter your security code

For these and additional instructions see the Voice Mail & Telephone User Guide in the front section of the Caldwell College Telephone Directory.

Everyone is requested to have a personal security code for his/her voice mailbox. If you don’t have a password for it, you would be a target of phone hackers who can deliver messages in your name, and could change your name and greeting to something very inappropriate. So, if you don’t have a password on your voice mailbox, please take a few moments and set it now. If you need assistance, please call our telephone help department at extension 4357 (HELP).
