| Caldwell College is issuing new ID cards to Faculty,
Students, and Staff in the fall of 2003. The new cards will have a digital
picture on them and will be used to identify the card holder as a student,
faculty or staff for reasons of security. In the initial phase, resident
students will use the card in order to gain access to their dorm and access
their meal plan. The ID card office is located in room 4104 in the Student
Center.
How to receive your ID card:
To receive a card you must be:
- A registered student
- An active staff or faculty employee
ID Card Office Hours
- 12:00pm to 1:00pm Tuesday and Thursday
- 6:00pm to 7:00pm Tuesday and Thursday
What the card can do:
If you are a resident student, your card will:
- Let you into your dorm.
- Allow you to use your meal plan.
- Allow you to use the library.
- Have a yellow border around your picture.
If you are a Commuter, Continuing Education, or Graduate Student your
card will:
- Allow you to use the library.
- Have a blue border around your picture.
If you are a faculty or staff member, your card will:
- Allow you to use the library.
- Have a red border around your picture.
How to use the card:
For the dorms, face the magnetic strip towards the LED
lights and swipe in a downwards motion. If you have access the green permit
light will come on and the door will unlock. If you should have access
and the deny light comes on, contact your dorm director.
For meals, face the magnetic strip towards the keypad and
swipe from left to right. If the message that appears is incorrect, let
your dorm director know.
How to replace a card:
Go to the ID card office during open hours or make an
appointment. If you have damaged your card, bring it with you. If you
are a student, fill out the form provided at the office to determine how
you will be charged for the new card. The charge for students replacing
their card is $10. The damaged card will be taken and destroyed. A new
card will be made for you while you wait and your old one will no longer
work.
If the ID card is not working:
For dorm access:
- If you swipe the card and the red deny light comes on, contact your
dorm director
- If you swipe the card and the green permit light comes on but the door

stripe has been demagnetized.
