Caldwell, NJ – October 8, 2009 Caldwell College, Mount Saint Dominic Academy and the Caldwell Public Library today announced that they are partnering to host author and Seton Hall Law Professor, John Wefing, at the college on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 to speak about his new book “The Life and Times of Richard J. Hughes: The Politics of Civility“. All three institutions are honored, and delighted, to welcome Wefing and learn more about his book about such a notable figure in New Jersey’s history, Richard J. Hughes, who served as New Jersey’s 45th Governor from 1962 to 1970 and Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of New Jersey from 1973 to 1979.

“The library strives to be a positive catalyst in the community, bringing people and programs together,” said Karen Kleppe-Lembo, Director of the Caldwell Public Library. “We are thrilled to have this opportunity to work together with our friends on the hilltop, and hope that students of all ages will join us for what will surely be an educational and entertaining evening.”

Professor Wefing will present a lecture and slide show, which will be held at 7:00 p.m. in Werner Hall at the College. Immediately following the talk will be a book signing, and books will be available for purchase that evening. This program is free and open to the public.

“Caldwell College is delighted to be partnering with the Caldwell Public Library and Mount Saint Dominic Academy to welcome author and law professor John Wefing to our community,” said Dr. Marie Mullaney, Professor of History and Political Science of Caldwell College. “It will be my privilege to introduce Professor Wefing on the evening of the 17th, and I join our new President, Dr. Nancy Blattner, in being honored to offer our campus as the venue for this lecture and book signing. Working collaboratively with two other institutions which, like our College, place such a value on education and social awareness is in its own way a further way to honor a person such as Richard J. Hughes, and all he represented to our state. We are hopeful that many in the Caldwells, and well beyond, will join us for what we are certain shall be a memorable event.”
