Gramercy Brass Band Camp to Be Held at Caldwell College for 7th Season Students Invited to Apply and Perform Side by Side with Gramercy Brass.

Caldwell, NJ – July 15, 2011 - The award winning Gramercy Brass Orchestra of NY brings its celebrated Gramercy Brass Band Camp to Caldwell College for its 7th Season. World-renowned composer and conductor Johan de Meij will be the 2011 guest artist. His highly acclaimed composition “Extreme Make Over” for brass band will be a highlight of the final concert.

The Gramercy Brass Band Camp will be held at Caldwell College from July 25 through July 30, 2011. Students in brass or percussion, grades 4 -12, are encouraged to apply. College music intern positions are also available. Students will have the opportunity to perform side-by-side with members of Gramercy Brass Orchestra at the Brass Spectacular Finale Concert. Tuition is $750 and includes all classes, instruction, materials, food, and a camp T-shirt. John Henry Lambert, founder and Music Director of Gramercy Brass Orchestra of NY, says the camp is said to be “one of the most motivational, high quality programs of its kind, available anywhere."

Gramercy Brass Band Camp’s Brass Spectacular Finale Concert will feature a brass band of over 100 performers, combining faculty and campers. The concert will talk place Saturday, July 30 at 2 p.m. and will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Caldwell on the corner of Bloomfield and Roseland Avenues.

The Gramercy Brass Orchestra of NY is comprised of leading professional brass and percussion performers in the NY area and will be celebrating 30 years in 2012. Home based in the “Gramercy- Flatiron” district of NYC, Gramercy Brass Orchestra is an Ensemble in Residence at Caldwell College, NJ, and offers an array of high quality programs for young musicians under its music education project, “Polishing The Brass.”

For nearly three decades, Gramercy Brass Orchestra of NY has performed to capacity audiences in the finest concert halls including Alice Tully Hall, The Richard B. Fisher Center for the Performing Arts at Bard College alongside the impeccable American Symphony Orchestra, and most recently at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral in NYC with acclaimed concert organ recitalist, Stephen Tharp.
