Inspiring Authors To Speak at Mount St. Dominic
Laura Schroff’ s best-selling incredible true story, An Invisible Thread, is a moving account of how her chance encounter 25 years ago with 11-year-old Maurice Mazcyk, begging for lunch money, changed both their lives. Mount Saint Dominic Academy and Caldwell College are pleased to present an evening with Ms. Schroff, her co-author Alex Tresniowski, and Maurice on Thursday, April 19, 2012, at 7:00 p.m. in Mount Saint Dominic Academy’s Doris M. Byrne Performing Arts Center. The three will sign books following the presentation. Admission is free. Books will be available for purchase that evening.

Caldwell College Annual Craft Fair to be held november 19
The 37th annual Caldwell College Craft Fair will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2011 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Student Center gym. The fair will feature quality crafts including wood, stained glass, pottery, hand-knit and crocheted items, jewelry and elegant seasonal gifts. There will also be a gift auction and raffles.

Caldwell College Sponsors Clothesline Project to Honor Survivors and Victims of Intimate Violence
The Caldwell College Counseling Services office will sponsor the Clothesline Project to honor survivors and victims of intimate violence on Wednesday November 16 from 11:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. in the Hall of Flags on campus. Anyone who has experienced such violence is encouraged to come forward and design a t-shirt. Victims’ families and friends are also invited to participate. The project will also be on display in the Alumni Theatre from November 14 to 18.

Flutist John McMurtery to Perform at Caldwell College
Flutist John McMurtery will perform at the Caldwell College Alumni Theatre on Friday, November 18, 2011 at 8 p.m. Mr. Murtery is section flutist of the New York City Opera and principal flutist with the Opera Orchestra of New York. In addition, he performs regularly with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, and the New Jersey Symphony.

Caldwell College students in Dr. Mary Ann Miller’s Introduction to Poetry course will culminate workshops led by authors Gail Fishman Gerwin and Dr. Christine Redman-Waldeyer by hosting a reading by the poets from their books on Thursday, November 17, at 6:30 p.m. at the Caldwell Public Library, 268 Bloomfield Avenue.

Caldwell Alumna to Prep Students for Upcoming Career Fair
Caldwell, NJ – September 30, 2011 Recent Caldwell College graduate, Destiny Oquendo, will be on hand on Wednesday, October 5th from noon until 2 p.m. to help students prepare for the upcoming First Opportunity Job Fair on October 13th in Livingston, NJ. Ms. Oquendo, who graduated in May with a B.S. in Business Management, and is currently a recruiting specialist with Farmers' Insurance, Parsippany, will provide advice to students on presenting themselves to potential employers, creating a 30-second elevator pitch, and writing an effective resume. This drop-in session will be held in the Student Center Conference Room and will be repeated from 5 to 6 p.m.with representatives from the Career Planning and Development Office.

Caldwell, NJ – September 29, 2011 The Marketing Club at Caldwell College will host a presentation with the Innovators Group on Wednesday October 5th at 6 p.m. The Innovators Group is a new business venture started by several Caldwell College alumni. The presentation will focus on the impact of social media with regards to marketing and global business. The group will also discuss how networking sites such as Facebook and Linked-In are shaping how business is conducted today and will be conducted in the future.

New Jersey State Teacher of the Year to Speak at Caldwell College
Caldwell, NJ – September 26, 2011 - New Jersey’s 2011 State Teacher of the Year Danielle Kovach will speak at Caldwell College on the rewards and challenges of teaching in the 21st century classroom. The talk will take place on Tuesday October 4, 2011 at 7:00 PM in the lecture hall in Werner hall on campus. It is free and open to the public.

Visceglia Gallery at Caldwell College Presents Eclectic “Off the Wall” Exhibition
Caldwell, NJ – August3, 2011 – The Visceglia Gallery is pleased to present “Off The Wall”, a group exhibition of artists that explore a variety of possibilities in the making of artwork that projects from or relates to the walls and floors. Coming from diverse references to space, form and color, and with very distinct studio processes, they share an excitement for discovery and transformation. Caldwell College “Put Stress to Rest Fair” is being held on Wednesday, May 4, 2011, in the Newman Center Courtyard from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. (rain location: Student Center Gymnasium). Caldwell College students, professors and staff teamed up to compete against the NJ Bulova Nets in an exciting and fun wheelchair basketball game on March 24. The event raised awareness of disabilities and funds for the Wheelchair Sports Federation.

STAFF COUNCIL SPONSORS HOLIDAY DOOR DECORATING CONTEST
On Tuesday December 7, 2010, the Caldwell College Staff Council hosted a Holiday Door Decorating Contest. The response was overwhelmingly positive. There were over fourteen entries. The contest was judged by an esteemed panel of judges, Nancy Blattner, Heather Eaton-Dwyer, Meghan Moran, and student representative, Dan (Bubba) Gaffney. The judges were impressed with the entries and had a very difficult decision. After much deliberation, The Library and The Education Department were chosen as the winners.

Mood Check-ups To Be Held On Campus

The Caldwell College Counseling Office is partnering with the Mental Health Association of Essex County to conduct depression screenings - mood check-ups on campus on Wednesday, October 6 from 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. Screenings are open to all students, staff and faculty and will be held in the upper lounge of the Student Center Cafeteria.

“A Soul's Work” Exhibit: The Celebration of the Life and Works of Sister Gerardine Mueller, O.P.
The Visceglia Gallery at Caldwell College opens its fall season September 8th with the exhibit “A Soul’s Work: The Celebration of the Life and Works of Sister Gerardine Mueller, O.P.” The exhibit will run through October 4th. A special reception featuring a video of Sister’s life and works will be held on Saturday September 25th from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. The exhibit will mark the beginning of a year of a campus-wide art celebration that will culminate with Sister’s 90th birthday in September of 2011.
