Caldwell, New Jersey, November 10, 2009 – Carter Ross is a fictional hero of New Jersey, by New Jersey and for New Jersey – an investigative newspaper reporter who grew up in Millburn, works in Newark, and stalks bad guys everywhere from the Meadowlands to the Watchungs.
And now the author who created him is coming to Caldwell.
Caldwell College, Mount Saint Dominic Academy and the Caldwell Public Library announced today they will be hosting Brad Parks, the author of FACES OF THE GONE, on January 26, 2010 as part of their ongoing meet-the-author series.
Parks will give a talk entitled "The Power of Storytelling: A writer's journey from journalist to novelist,” that touches on both his fiction and non-fiction work. The event will begin at 7:00 p.m. in Werner Hall at the College. A book-signing will immediately follow the talk, and books will be available for purchase that evening. The program is free and open to the public.
"Join us for what will surely be an entertaining evening, as we hear more stories from Brad, who I have NO doubt will someday be a megastar and then we can say we knew him when he was a young fresh-faced author! I promise you that hearing him talk about Carter Ross and his journalistic escapades will make you consider picking up FACES OF THE GONE” said Karen Kleppe-Lembo, Director of the Caldwell Public Library.
Based on Parks' ten years as a reporter at The Star-Ledger, FACES OF THE GONE will remind readers of some of New Jersey's most beloved authors – reviewers have likened Parks's work to Janet Evanovich and Harlan Coben – and will be a treat for readers familiar with the many locales, from the city to the suburbs, that Carter Ross traverses in his search for an ambitious murderer. Written with humor and compassion, it also provides an inside look at newspaper newsrooms at a time of crisis for the industry.
