October is open enrollment month at Caldwell College, a time during which
employees who have previously opted out of our medical plan may now enroll.
Dependents may be added without a qualifying condition at this time. Changes
will be effective with the renewal on December 1, 2009. Contact Terri Demarest
for more information.
Our renewal for December 2009 is still under review with the Benefits Committee,
but promises to be very favorable for the college. A reduction of rates
absorbed by the college will eliminate the need to implement plan design changes
this year in order to reduce the benefits budgets. Committee members are also
reviewing cost-saving changes to plan design for possible future implementation.
The Delta Dental Plan is in its second year of locked-in rates which will
continue through 2011. Check out Delta Dental’s new Oral Health & Wellness
Portal featuring hundreds of articles about pediatric and adult oral health at
www.deltadentalnj.com.
Our life and LTD plans will also continue with no rate increase this year – all
good news for the college and for employees.
Congratulations to the following colleagues on their well-earned promotions;
Vilma Mueller to Sr. Counselor, Adult Admissions, Danielle Thoma to Asst.
Director, Undergraduate Admissions, Aaron Tucker, to Sr. Admissions Counselor,
Johanna Idelberger to Sr. Staff Accountant and Michelle Flynn, to Asst.
Director, HR Recruitment & Training. Well done! Note too, that Terri
Demarest’s title has been changed to Asst Director, Benefits & Compensation.
Congratulations also to the following employees whose dependent children have
received CIC scholarships; Mark Corino’s and Sharon Dwyer’s daughters, Michele
and Caitlin are both at Monmouth University; Deborah Giordano’s son, Joseph is
at DeSales University; Susan Rupple’s son, Alexander is at Albright
College, and Mary Diercksen's son, Michael is at Roger Williams University. We are delighted that they are able to avail themselves of this
excellent benefit.
Five Year Presidential Service Awards were presented by Dr. Nancy
Blattner at the September Welcome Breakfast. Kudos to; Abbe Benowitz, Donna
Iacullo, Sr. Deborah Lynch, Eric Manchester, Matthew McLagan, Sr. Barbara Moore,
Patrick Progar, Susan Rupple, Stacey Solomon and Sonia Workman.
Are you willing to donate a day of pay to our college? This was one of the
recommendations that came forward in the budget feedback process and has been
made available through a one-time payroll deduction. A day, half day, or any
amount may be deducted in the pay period of your choosing, between October 30th
and the final paycheck in December. Contact Sonia Workman in Payroll for
details.
Payroll frequency for non-exempt employees will change as of the first payroll
of January 2010. Those affected will receive specific information from the
Payroll Office. Anyone currently paid on a weekly basis will be paid on a
bi-weekly basis. Please inform your direct-hire student employees!
