Caldwell College Staff Member Receives National Advisor of the Year Award from
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
Caldwell College Staff Member Abbe Benowitz New Jersey received the national 2008 Advisor of the Year award from St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Abbe, the Coordinator of Disability Services at Caldwell College, volunteered to advise the St. Jude "Up 'til Dawn" program for the 2007-2008 year. She was nominated for the award by Caldwell students who were involved in the fundraising program. The award recognizes an "Up 'til Dawn" collegiate advisor who went above and beyond the call of duty during that academic year.
Students at Caldwell College raised over $20,000 in 2007-2008 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The proceeds go towards helping St. Jude provide pediatric treatment and research for children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. The culmination of the year was the "Up 'til Dawn" event where students stayed up all night long and took part in a number of fundraising and fun activities.
Throughout the 2007-2008 school year, students organized and participated in several different fundraisers for St. Jude, including letter writing, cheesecake sales, lollipop sales, t-shirt sales, benefit nights at Fuddrucker’s and Friendly’s, and bake sales. A number of awareness events were held on campus.
