NJKI Update:
Thank you to those who did advocate for NJKI funding at the $3 million dollar level. It is very likely that the survival of NJKI at any level in a very tough budget climate was directly related to advocacy. In the final state budget for FY2009 signed by Governor Corzine, the New Jersey Knowledge Initiative was kept at the FY2008 $2 million level. While this amount did not allow the State Library to replicate the original NJKI project, it enabled the continuation of the most used and valued databases including Academic Search Premier.
Jennings Library has funded for our students and faculty to have continued, uninterrupted access to the NJKI databases: Biomedical Reference Collection, Business Source Premier, CINAHL, Medline, Nursing and Allied Health Collection and some Nature Journals (Nature weekly, Nature Biotechnology, Nature Genetics, Nature Immunology and Nature Medicine). The NJKI databases which were discontinued are: OVID Journals, Regional Business News, Wiley Journals and some Nature Monthly Journals
