The department offers a B.A. degree in elementary education, an M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction and in Educational Administration, and a program for teachers who wish to obtain a supervisor ’s certificate. Certification programs are offered in early childhood education (Preschool through grade three), elementary education (Kindergarten through grade 8), elementary school with subject matter specialization in English, mathematics, social studies and science, and for teaching grades K-12 in art, biology, English, French, mathematics, music, social studies, and Spanish.
A dual certification program is available to registered nurses who wish to obtain school nurse certification and teacher of health endorsement. A school nurse/non-instructional is available for registered nurses who wish to obtain school nurse endorsement. A Post-Baccalaureate program is offered for teaching certification for those students who have already earned a bachelor’s degree. A Teacher of the Handicapped Certificate Program is available to certified teachers.
