Theology Quick Facts

Theology is at the heart of the mission of the College and the wisdom of every discipline. Courses foster in students a deep awareness of Christian ideals of living and a true sense of responsibility to God, self, others, and the natural order. Courses have been designed to enable students to study, reflect upon and clarify the meaning and purpose of religion, Christian values and moral decision making, and Christian theological tradition.

Philosophy Quick Facts

Philosophy, as an academic discipline, focuses on critical examinations of what we think we know, what we assume as right and wrong, true or false, just or unjust. Because this deep level of questioning is key to the human endeavor, philosophy could qualify as the core of the core curriculum for all students, regardless ofreligious faith commitment.

This analysis of reality gave birth to science in the West and is one of the major achievements of our civilization.

In PH 102: Introduction to Philosophy, students gain familiarity with major philosophers. A historical overview of philosophy includes primary selections from the ancient, medieval and modern periods and introduces students to the wide spectrum of philosophical concerns about logic, knowledge, reality, ethics, human nature, and God.

The second required philosophy course is left to the student's choice. Offerings include tradtional philosophy and multidisciplinary courses.
